| This is my first attempt at building a kit and repainting it. Once complete it was given to a friend as a Christmas present.
The kit is a Northern Counties Leyland Olympian supplied by Mirror Image Models. I cleaned up the kit and set about repainting it. The model is based on TWY 7, a Leyland Olympian based at Arriva Yorkshire's Pontefract depot. It was frequently used on the 410 service between Leeds, Pontefract and Doncaster. The bus was bought new by South Yorkshire Road Transport of Pontefract, they were taken over by West Riding who in turn were acquired by British Bus - Cowie - Arriva. When Pontefract depot was closed, TWY 7 transferred to Castleford depot. It had been in use for a while before it was deroofed. The bus was bought my Ensign who converted it into an open-top and re-registered E767 LBT. The reg plate TWY 7 is now worn by an ALX200 Dennis Dart, based at Selby. |
